An in person wellness event is being planned in downtown Kenton on the morning of October 24th .

This has been approved by the Parks and Recreation Board at their last meeting and will be operated with the cooperation of the City of Kenton and Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.

The Hardin Half Marathon presented by Quest Federal Credit Union is a benefit event with all proceeds going to the United Way of Hardin County.

Participants have the opportunity to choose the event that best suits them.

They can choose from a 13.1 mile Half Marathon Run/Walk, a 5K Run/Walk, a 25 mile bike ride or a 1 mile Fun Run/Walk.

A Facebook event has been created, also you can follow the Hardin Half Marathon on Instagram.

People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate.

Staggered start time will be observed as well as any social distancing requirements/safety measures needed to have a safe, fun event.

Anyone who would like to participate is asked to email Hardinhalfmarathon@gmail.com or phone 567-674-0057.

They can also find registration links/pricing in their event Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1623400341162510/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22search_results%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22search%22%7D]%7D

Committee members Robert & Stephanie Temple, Lorraine Dietz and Megan Manns felt this was a great opportunity to try out this local event because many have been training for larger events that have been cancelled in 2020.

It is hoped that with increasing participation, this could grow into a larger, annual event and bring athletes from the surrounding areas to Hardin County.

Sponsorships from local businesses have been sought with only a few spots remaining.

The following are presented by sponsors of the event:

Platinum Sponsors:

Quest Federal Credit Union; Tons of Fun Travel, Kenton Ironfit, & Ohio Health Hardin Wellness Center.

Gold Sponsors:

Edward Jones/Marshall Wolowicz & Doug Carmean, Yoder Construction LLC, CVS Health, and Hansel Ready Mix.

Silver Sponsors:

Yankee Dairy Queen, Jac N Do’s Pizza, Nelson Insurance Agency, Root Lumber & WKTN.

The committee is also seeking volunteers for the morning of the event, use the email and phone listed above to volunteer.
