Hardin Northern’s FFA was well represented at the 2020 Hardin County Fair the week of September 8-13.

Twenty-three FFA members overall participated in fair week activities. Six members participated in hog shows, two members participated in chicken shows, one member in rabbit shows, two members in sheep shows, five members in goat shows, three members in dairy beef feeder shows, and two members in dairy steer shows. Hardin Northern also had two royalty candidates and seven members serving on the Junior Fair Board.

Highlights from the week include Lance Good being crowned Fair King. He said, “I really enjoyed it. I was a little nervous during the ceremony but the rest of the week was really fun. Giving speeches at the shows was overwhelming, but I enjoyed addressing the crowd. Other than that, I just enjoyed talking to people and there was a lot of saying ‘thank you’.”

Wade Crooks’ Reserve Champion Dairy Steer was another major HN highlight. In his words, “It was very different from how other years have been in the past and it was hard for some people to show out of a trailer but I liked it. Yes, it was different, but sometimes different is a good thing.”

Other HN highlights include Mara Ruhlen’s 4th overall pen of meat rabbits and Makenna Eibling’s Reserve Division 2 Barrow and Champion Division 2 Born and Raised Barrow.
