Max Trachsel

Following lunch, Max Trachsel spoke about supporting the 1.5 mill tax levy renewal for the Hardin County Council on Aging. There are a variety of services for people who are 60 years and older. The variety of jobs include transportation for banking, medical, groceries, etc. One can ask for chores such as snow removal or mowing or cleaning in the home. If a program is needed such as legal aid, home energy, or income tax assistance, the office can assist with phone numbers. There is socializing through daily activities and lunch is served at the council starting at 11:15 a.m. There are travel opportunities for adults over 18 years old. There is adult day care available in the building next to the council.

Lowery thanked Trachsel and began the meeting. Sec. Norma Frederick read her September 16 minutes which was filed. She also read a thank you from Susan White of the Mary Lou Johnson Public Library for the $25 donation for the summer reading program. Treas. Joan Mouser had her report filed for audit. She also collected $10 dues for 2023.

Annette Ansley reported that STRS lost closer to $5 billion than they reported earlier. The reason was the stock market. The COLA has still not been made a priority.

Sandy Moore reported that the members had volunteered 356 hours since the last meeting. Lowery discussed Life Wise at HN. She said 103 children are attending. The collection of $120 was added to the scholarship fund which will be provided for an active teacher in 2024. Lowery thanked everyone who brought wrapped candy for the county’s teachers. Frederick thanked everyone who brought socks or slippers for the Santa Train at Kenton’s Home Savings and Loan. More can be delivered there between Thanksgiving and Dec. 12 which will be taken to Helping Hands before Christmas.

Having no other business, Lowery announced that the next meeting will be at noon on April 21 at the Kenton Elks. Melanie Kindell offered a prayer. Lowery adjourned the meeting and wished everyone safe travels.
