Human remains found in Marion County back in 2007 have been identified as that of a missing Louisiana woman.

Today, the Marion County Sheriff’s office identified the remains as that of Dana Nicole Lowery, who was 23 when she reported missing in May of 2006. Her remains were found on Victory Road in Marion in March of 2007.

Lowery is Shawn Grate’s first victim.

Her body was found from information provided by Grate, who said she sold magazines to his mother. Grate said he became upset when the magazines were never delivered.

He confessed to killing her after taking her to his apartment on the pretense he was going to order magazines.

Grate confessed to killing five women in 2016 and has been sentenced to death.
