Husted Announces September TechCred Results

November Application Period is Open

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, today announced the results of the September round of TechCred, in which 480 employers were approved for funding, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 5,289 tech-focused credentials, setting a record for the most employers awarded and credentials funded in a single round.

“With each round of TechCred, we see more and more Ohio businesses utilizing this funding opportunity to upskill or reskill their workforce,” said Lt. Governor Husted. “Ohio needs to stay on top, and this program helps us build and maintain the strong workforce we need.”

The program helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees. Businesses of all sizes, from any industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year. Some of the top industries awarded during this round include Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation and Warehousing Services.

The current and 23rd application period for Ohio employers opened on November 1st and will close on November 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Apply now at TechCred.Ohio.Gov.
“TechCred addresses Ohio employers’ need for skilled and qualified workers head-on,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “Through this program, we are investing in the future of all of Ohio. Employers are receiving the resources they needed to upskill and reskill teams, retain employees, and adapt to new market demands.”

“The TechCred program continues to be a win-win for Ohio, allowing employers to maintain and grow their skilled workforce while giving employees the opportunity to thrive in their career,” said Chancellor Randy Gardner of the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
