The Village of Ada has begun the process of improving the police department and village facilities.
The improvements include a secure holding area for the temporary processing of prisoners, new office space for police officers, an elevator for handicap access to all floors, including council chambers, and finally, improvements to administrative offices.
The $700,000 project comes after many years of planning, delaying, revising and saving.
Nearly half of the funds needed for the $700,000 project were set aside throughout the past several years in anticipation for the improvements.
Work began this week and is scheduled to be completed by late September of this year.
