The Safety Committee mentioned that during their last meeting concerns were raised that there were multiple stop signs that were being covered by tree branches. Safety and Service Director James Hites assured the council that the issue was in the process of being taken care of and added that if an issue of damaged, covered or unreadable signs arises that the Safety and Service Department should be contacted.

In new business, the council moved the first ordinance to a second reading. The second ordinance, explained by Deputy Auditor Pam Romanko, said that it allows for extra money from the hospital insurance to be transferred to other areas to assist in paying bills. The ordinance allowed $19,000 to be transferred from the hospital insurance so that $3,000 could be used for sewer maintenance and equipment bills and the other $16,000 was put towards sewer plant repair bills. The council suspended the three reading rule and the ordinance was passed.

The Finance Committee will be holding their next meeting to discuss the Police Department budget Monday September 16th at 5:30 PM.

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on September 23rd at 7 PM.
