Last night the Kenton City Council held their regular meeting in which two items were passed.

The first allowed the city to get money from the cares act. But to get these funds the ordinance had to be passed because it stated that the city would only request funds equal to the amount spent by the city on COVID-19.

The second to be passed was an ordinance for additional appropriations to the tune of $413,000. Which included $6,000 for city hall maintenance and repairs, $100,000 for advance to garbage and refuse, and $300,000 for refuse collection contract.

The council would like to have it noted that in the coming weeks space at the top of the water tower at 610 W. Kohler Street will be available for leasing for the purpose of internet and communication equipment. To get this space an interested party will have to place a bid when made available by the council.

In comments it was noted that it is hoped that main street will be opening at the end of this week. And that there is now a gate going up the the campgrounds and it will be closed along with the shower house at 10 P.M.

Citizens are urged that if they have any questions with the new trash system they should contact their council members. A way to do so is to email them. You can find your council members email at https://cityofkenton.com/contact-us

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on Monday July 13th at 7 P.M.
