Last night the Kenton City Council Approved three Ordinances.

The first ordinance to be passed allows for the lease of space for antennas and internet related equipment on top of the water tower at 610 W. Kohler Street.

The second ordinance authorized the City of Kenton to enter into a Highway Improvement Project with ODOT. This project is the repaving of State Route 53 between Pattison Ave and Township Road 114.

The final ordinance was to allow additional appropriations for the Municipal Court Unemployment Comp to the tune of $5,850 and a transfer of funds from various Fire Department items so that maintenance on the ladder truck can be completed.

In comments Safety Service Director Cindy Murray commented that phase one is nearing an end and the water transfer project is going well but for two nights in a row in the coming week there will be a city wide water shut off.

Public Information Officer Taylor Klinger announced that the last day for the Kenton Municipal pool will be on August 9th. August 9th will also be a “Free day” for kids 17 and under and is sponsored by Ace Hardware. Additionally this coming Friday July 31st will be a free day from 12-6pm sponsored by Century 21 Sunway Realty LLC and Ricks Auto Sales. It is reported that the snow cone vendor Snowie of Huron will be there.

Finally Mayor Webb gave an update on the new trash system saying she believes it is going well and that August 4th will begin senior tote distribution. However, there are only 215 totes and over 400 seniors registered. So all 215 totes will be distributed and the City will have to wait for more. But seniors who signed up for the senior trash rates will receive the senior rate even if they did not receive their tote.

The Mayor gave out a reminder saying that August 4th also begins the every other week recycling pick up so check your calendars for when your recycling pick up is and that only 1 and 2 plastics can be recycled. #5s can not be recycled.

The next meeting of the Safety Committee will be held on August 12th at 4:30 P.M. in Council Chambers.

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on  Monday August 10th at 7 P.M.
