Kenton Mayor Lynn Webb explained that the city is trying something different this year for Spring Clean-Up.

At this week’s city council meeting, the Mayor said the city is trying a voucher system this year, “And you’ll have two vouchers that you can dump any time of the year at the dump, and you also have two vouchers for yard waste, and then they’ll keep the running total for us.”

The city has teamed up with the Hardin County Engineer’s Office and the Landfill to try the voucher system.

The mayor talked about the benefits for the city and residents, “We’ve kind of mimicked what other communities have found to be successful that gives our street guys a whole other week out on the street and not overtime, and this gives the community the opportunity to, it may not work, just that we want to do it, this way it gives them two time throughout the year to be able to haul out there.”

The two vouchers will be included in the next water bills.
