Kenton Lions Club Celebrates 75 Year Charter Anniversary

The Kenton Lions club met on Wednesday January 19, 2022, at the Kenton Elks for the 75 Year Charter Anniversary Celebration.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Lion President Aaron Osborn with 18 members and 3 guests present.

President Lion Aaron Osborn led with the pledge and Lion Matt Manns with a prayer.

The meeting was adjourned and reconvened at 6:58 pm following a meal.

Lion Jason VanBuskirk was Master of Ceremonies for the event.

He provided a brief Welcome to members and guests, which included Past International Director (PID) Jerry Smith, who was the speaker for the event.

PID Jerry Smith talked about Kenton Lions 75 years of service to the community, highlighting the many positive activities provided by Kenton Lions Club.

He also included what service to community was utilizing the example of response at Gander International Airport during 9/11.

Gander International airport is located in a town of about 10,000 population, who provided care to over 6,000 airline passenger that were grounded due to the events of 9/11. He also expressed that he met the Mayor of the Newfoundland community several years ago and felt an equal honor by being invited to Kenton Lions Club to help celebrated the 75-year milestone.

PID Jerry Smith also officiated over the induction of 2 new Lions, Joe Burgbacher, sponsored by PDG Bill Keller and Dave Dulin, sponsored by Lion Dave Sturgeon.

He also presented the International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation to Lions Terry Burgbacher and Jason VanBuskirk.

50/50 drawing was won by Lion Joe Burgbacher.
