The Kenton Lions Club held its regular meeting recently at the Kenton Elks.

Tom Dilts, Kevin Kapanka, Cruz Compton, and Matt James introduced their non-profit group, Play for Purpose.

Their mission is to raise money through donations and gaming tournaments to provide game systems and toys to children in need.

Recently, the group was able to donate a game system and toys to families impacted by the tornado that went through Lakeview.

The group also shared plans for future projects with members.

Holly Layman Cannode, owner of the Sweet Note in downtown Kenton, was able to help the group out with power needs for their booth at Eats on the Streets in July.

She matched the amount Play for Purpose raised that evening and the group presented a check in the amount of $833.24 to the Kenton Lions Club to put towards local projects.
