Kenton Lions Club Met this Week

The Kenton Lions club held its regular meeting this week at the Kenton Elks.

The guest speaker was Sam Norris, Director of the Mary Lou Johnson Library, who thanked the club for their donation which helped buy Solar Glasses that will be handed out for the April 8th Solar Eclipse.

He provided a few samples for members.

Lions members also heard a presentation about the United Way of Hardin County and the programs and services they provide.

Lion Todd Oates gave an update on Lions Roar which is set for Saturday, March 9th and Sunday March 10th at the Kenton Middle School Auditorium. 

Members were given Patron tickets to start selling for the event.

The Kenton Lions club held its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at the Kenton Elks.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Lion President Lion Jason VanBuskirk with 23 members and 2 quests present. Lion President Lion Jason Van Buskirk led with the pledge, while Lion Steve Walter led the prayer. The meeting was adjourned for a meal and called back to order by Lion President Jason Vanbuskirk at 6:50 pm.

Guest Speakers:

Sam Norris, Director of the Mary Lou Johnson Library, thanked the club for their donation which helped buy Solar Glasses that will be handed out for the April 8th Solar Eclipse and provided a few samples for members to look at.

Martha Nau, Director of United Way of Hardin County gave a presentation on the programs offered and the 2023 fundraising campaign provided $139,000 dollars to 16
partner agencies last year. Her presentation covered the Days of Caring, Student Leaders United, Club 52, Lunch Buddies, 2-1-1, Martha also encouraged members on
ways to help, through donations, volunteering, and advocacy. The Director completed her presentation by providing members with dates of special events coming in 2024.

The Treasurer and Secretary’s reports were submitted to members. A motion was made by Lion Bill Keller to accept the report from the Jan. 3rd meeting with a 2nd by
Lion Todd Oates. Motion passed.

Communications:

The Kenton Band sent the club a letter thanking them for their support of the Kenton Band Boosters. Lion Brad Bailey made a motion to donate $250 to the Kenton Band
Boosters for 2024 with a 2nd by Lion Terry Burbacher. Motion Passed.

Lion Bob Burbacher was recognized for his 10 years of service to the Kenton Lions and received his certificate from Lion President Lion Jason Vanbuskirk.

Old business:

Lion Tracy Anderson gave an update for the golf outing and the date is set for Sept. 21st, starting at 9:00 am at Memorial Park Golf Course.

Mint report:

Lion Aaron Osborn reported that he and Lion Rick Collins checked 7 locations and brought in $18.65.

New business:

Lion Joe Burbacher brought in two new members; Christina Ramge and Bridget Hoel were approved by members.

Lions Roar:

Lion Todd gave an update on the Roar which is set for Saturday, March 9th and Sunday March 10th, 2024 at the Kenton Middle School Auditorium. Members were
given Patron tickets to start selling for the event.

50/50 was won by Lion Tracy Anderson and donated back to the Club.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm. Followed by the singing of the Lions Roar.
