Kenton Lions Releases Minutes from this Week’s Meeting

The Kenton Lions club held its meeting on Wednesday Oct. 4th, 2023, at the Kenton Elks. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Lion President Lion Jason Vanbuskirk with 18 members present.

President Lion Jason Vanbuskirk led with the pledge and the prayer. The meeting was adjourned and reconvened at 6:53 pm following a meal.

Treasurer’s Report/Secretary Report:

The Treasurer report and Secretary minutes were submitted to members. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report and minutes from the Sept. 20th, 2023 meeting was made by Lion Joe Burbacher with a 2nd by Lion Bill Keller. Motion passed.

Old Business:

Lion Aaron Osborn reported on the Banner project, and said information on ordering banners was provided for members to hand and it was posted on the Kenton Lion’s
Facebook Page. Members discussed more effective ways to get banners sold and how many businesses we could potentially sell to. Lion President Lion Jason reminded
members that signs will need to be sold, ordered and complete to go up in about a month. Lion Joe Burbbacher gave an update on the Pioneer Park project. He said the picnic table and benches were finished, the stage coach was painted and the city has volunteered to paint the flag pole. Lion Joe led discussion on having a solar light on top of the flagpole. After some discussion by members, Lion Brad Bailey made a motion to purchase a solar light not to exceed $75 while Lion John Dulin made a 2nd to the motion. Lion Dave Amweg said he will see what he can get through Ace Hardware. Motion Passed.

Discussion on installation of the light was brought up by Lion Judd Robinsion and that a bucket truck would be used. Lion Rick Collins reported on mints; replenished mints at 7 locations since the last meeting and submitted $41:11 for Lion Kirk to deposit. Lion Rick is keeping a spreadsheet and tracking the amount of mints and how much money is brought in.

Roadside Clean-up Lion Bill made a motion to have trash pick up on Oct. 22nd at 2:00 pm with a 2nd from Lion Joe. Motion Passed.

New Business:

Christmas Parade: Lion Judd reported that he is trying to get more marching bands involved and has contacted area schools to see who will be able to perform at the
parade on Nov. 21st.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:27 pm. Followed by the singing of the Lions Roar.
