Kenton Rotary welcomed speakers Jesse Purcell and Bret Bahr, pictured above, to inform the group about a program at the Kenton Church of the Nazarene.

The name of the program is Upward Sports of Hardin County.

The church restarted the program 4 years ago while the world was still emerging from the pandemic.

Upwards is a faith based program put on/sponsored by the Kenton Church of the Nazarene. Upward is open to Pre-K through 3rd grade boys and girls and in the Hardin County area. The main focus is getting all players to participate while teaching kids the basics of the basketball and cheerleading and spreading the word of Jesus.
The season is 8 weeks long and runs in January and February.

Bret and Jesse are members of the leadership team along with Ben and Briton Hence, Jake Purcell, Kaylee King, and Pastor Caleb Burkey.

Both Bret and Jesse say it is one of the most rewarding feelings to see these kids participate in a positive and embracive community, while being exposed to the love of Jesus.

Registration starts in mid-October for next year.
