Kenton City Schools Superintendent Chad Thrush noted that building security is one of their top priorities.

To that end, he noted that starting with the new school year they will be implementing a new Visitor Management System for all buildings, “Basically it just means that if you’re going to go on into the building, we have you go ahead and give us some form of ID, usually a driver’s license works really well, and the system actually takes a picture of that and then runs through a database just to double check that there’s certain things, such as the sex offender list and some others, it just checks those things and as long as it comes back fine, then you get a badge that you wear, and that badge is time sensitive.”

He said they started piloting the system at the elementary building near the end of last school year and it will be utilized in all buildings at the start of the new school year on August 23.
