Kenton high school football opened the season hosting Eastwood. The Wildcats opened the scoring on a 72 yard TD drive then Eastwood answered with 31 straight points. Kenton would find the endzone once more to head to halftime down 14-31. The Wildcats then opened up the scoring in the 2nd half with a 14 point run of their own to chop the lead down to just three points heading to the final frame. The Wildcats scored again with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to take their second lead of the game but Eastwood wouldn’t be denied scoring a touchdown, with nine seconds remaining, on a 91 yard drive. The Eagles flew home with a 38-35 victory.
