A Kenton woman who was indicted this month in Allen County on drug charges was in Allen County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.
The Lima News reported that 31 year old Erika Parkins waived her right to a speedy trial.
She has been charged with possession of a fentanyl related compound, which is a first degree felony and a fifth degree felony count of possession of heroin.
Her vehicle was under electronic surveillance and was observed travelling to a Detroit, Michigan neighborhood where it remained for around 45 minutes before heading back to Ohio.
The vehicle was stopped in Allen County by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and a probable cause search revealed that Parkins was hiding 77 grams of fentanyl in her body.
The owner of the car, 28 year old Justin Williams, of Lima, allegedly paid Parkins $200 to smuggle the drugs back to Lima. He was charged with possession of a fentanyl related compound and trafficking in heroin.
The driver of the car, Michael Malone, told troopers during the traffic stop that he was in possession of marijuana. So far, no charges have been filed against him.
