Kenton Rotary welcomed Elementary teacher Morgan Sherman, 1st grade student, Kaelin Lifer and 4th grade student, Sadie Mustain to speak about KES Leadership Day 2024.

Kaelin and Sadie informed the group that the Leader in Me program was adapted from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, a book by Stephen Covey.

The program is in over 5000 schools in 50 countries. There are 80 Leadership clubs at KES that the students participate in and have the opportunity to give back to the community like tie blankets for Hardin Memorial Hospital and Valentines that are made by the students and handed out.

The students also gather in a “Town hall” where all of the grades meet up and activities are led by students. Students also set WIGS, A WIG is expressed in a statement that is specific, measurable, and time-bound. For example, “Learn all multiplication facts from the 3’s through the 6’s by December 15.” Having a specific goal helps students see where they need to be and by when.
