LC History Center Promotes McCracken Fen State Nature Preserve

The Logan County History Center encouraged residents to visit the McCracken Fen State Nature Preserve.

It is located on Township Road 32 just over a mile south of Bellefontaine.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources purchased the 94 acre preserve in 1999.

It features a natural lake with wetlands.

It has hiking trails where you can observe rare plants and various wildlife.

The McCracken Fen State Nature Preserve is located 1.3 miles south of Bellefontaine. From US Route 68, proceed 1.2 miles west on Township Road 190 West which turns sharply and becomes Township Road 32 South. 

A small pull-off is provided for parking.

The preserve is open a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset.
