There’s been an increase in the number of accidents in Lima caused by motorists taking a shortcut through private property.

The Lima Police Department issued a reminder that it against the City of Lima ordinance to cut through private property from one street to the next.

With the construction on Bellefontaine Avenue, motorists can utilize the detour from Bellefontaine Avenue, to the new underpass, to Shawnee St back to Bellefontaine Ave.

It is not legal to cut through Bruster’s Car Wash or any other businesses in the area to avoid the detour.

Officers will be providing extra patrol for the area and attempt to cut down on traffic accidents.
