A 54 year old man was arrested in Findlay early this morning after reports concerning gunshots being fired were received by the Findlay Police Department.

Here is the complete release from the Findlay Police Department:

On 10-26-2023 at approximately 0016 hours, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Edith Ave. for a report of shots being fired in the area.

Officers began checking the area and another call was received from victims claiming they had been shot at by a male. One of the victims advised they observed the male run into a shed to the rear of 224 Lester Ave. Officers set up and held a perimeter around the shed while giving verbal commands for any possible occupants inside the shed to come out. No response was received from the shed and officers continued to hold a perimeter. Multiple attempts were made to elicit a response from the shed and none was received.

The Findlay Police Department Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated and responded to the scene. Consent was received from the homeowner to search the premises and The Findlay PD ERT deployed to the shed and cleared the inside of the shed. No one was located inside. Contact was again made with the homeowner to perform a search of the interior of the residence. ERT checked inside the residence for any suspects, but did not locate any. Upon speaking further with the male resident at 224 Lester Ave., he admitted to shooting a .22 caliber pistol into the ground at the victims.

The suspect, identified as Martin Munoz (age 54) was eventually taken into custody for Aggravated Menacing (M1) and Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits (M4).

The firearm used in the incident was seized.

No injuries occurred as a result of this incident.
