Man Killed in Allen County Crash Sunday

A Cairo, Ohio man was killed in an accident that occurred Sunday evening on State Route 117 in Allen County.

According to a release from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 56 year old Patrick Woods was operating a motorcycle west on 117, when an eastbound vehicle being operated by 19 year old Michaela Cosart, of Harrod, traveled left of center resulting in a collision.

Woods was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cosart was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Perry Township Fire and EMS, Allen County Coroner’s Office, H&H Funeral Services and Kenny’s Auto Wrecking.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol encourages motorcyclists to wear helmets while on motorcycles, and for motorist to be vigilant during the motorcycle season.
