Marion County Crash Claims the Life of New Bloomington Man

A New Bloomington man was killed in a crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on State Route 309 in Marion County.

According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 52 year old Rick L. Beltz drove left of center while traveling west on 309.

His car struck the left rear axle of an eastbound semi tractor trailer unit being operated by 56 year old Jeffrey D. Hunter, of Decatur, Georgia.

Beltz, who was not wearing a safety belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hunter was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion Count y Sheriff’s Office, First Consolidated Fire Department, Marion Township Fire Department , Ohio Department of Transportation, Kirby’s Towing, and Ed ’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
