The Marion Fire Department reminds the public to never leave children or pets inside a car.

Temperatures reach deadly levels very quickly during the current heat wave.

You are being urged to look before you lock or doors.

The Marion Fire Department is also partnering with the Marion Senior Center and LifeCare Alliance to collect fans for senior citizens in the community.

You can drop off new and gently used box fans at any Marion Fire Department station, and they will make sure they reach those who need them.

The Marion Fire Department is located at 186 South Prospect Street in Marion.

With temperatures in the 90s this week, remember also to properly hydrate and take frequent breaks when working outside.

Heat related illness leads to thousands of hospital visits each year.
