Marion Man Killed in Marion County Crash

One person was killed in a crash to start the weekend in Marion County.

According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 42 year old James E. Gates IV, of Marion, lost control of his car on a curve while travelling east on State Route 739.

The car ended up off the right side of the road where it struck a mailbox, traffic sign, utility pole and culvert before overturning, coming to rest on its top after striking a tree.

Gates was taken by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where he passed away.

The crash remains under investigation.
