Minutes from Kenton Lions Club Recent Meeting

The Kenton Lions club held its meeting on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, at the Kenton Elks.

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm by Lion President Jason VanBuskirk with 20 members present. Lion President Jason Van Buskirk led with the pledge, while Lion
Steve Walter led the prayer. The meeting was adjourned for a meal and called back to order by Lion President Jason Vanbuskirk at 6:58 pm.

The Treasurer and Secretary reports were submitted to members. A motion was made by Lion Bruce Oberlitner to accept both reports from the November 16th meeting with a 2nd by Lion Todd Oates. Motion passed.

Old business:

Lion Aaron Osborn informed the club that 32 street banners have been sold and reminded members to keep selling. Lion President Jason said they will send out an email when the bucket truck is available to hang them up.

Mint report:

Lion Aaron Osborn reported that 15 boxes were replenished at all but one business and turned in $121.85 collected from late Oct. Nov. and Dec.

Pioneer Park Report:

Lion Joe Burbacher provided a sketch of the engraving for the headstone to be placed at the park and that it has been ordered. Lion President Jason reminded members that there will be a need in the spring to work on the park starting with 3 pallets of mulch pellets to spread.

Bowling with Santa:

Lion Terry Burgbacher thanked members for bagging up candy that will be passed out at the event. She also updated members that two bikes were donated for the grand prize drawing and she is working on getting decorations, food and will be baking cookies soon. Lion Terry reminded members to arrive by 1:00 pm to help set up for the event on Dec. 16th that runs from 2-5 pm.

Christmas Parade:

Lion President Jason led discussion on how the parade went. Several members asked questions and provided feedback on the number of floats and crowd numbers despite the rainy weather. Lion Jack Elsasser thanked Lion Judd Robinson and Lion President Jason Vanbuskirk for their work and coordination with members, the City of Kenton and law enforcement. Overall, members felt it was a wonderful event for the City of Kenton and members were thankful for the helpers, participants and our law enforcement who made it possible.

New business:

Lion Todd gave an update on future plans to donate to annual projects globally and locally. He reminded members that we have donated to Pilot Dogs (They presented
earlier this year), Northwestern Ohio Eye Care Foundation, Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), and Angels For the Elderly . Lion Todd also gave information on
how those groups help others in need and the process that those organizations use to provide needed services.

Santa House – Lion Judd reported on numbers of kids and the hours for the Santa House at the Court House.

50/50 was won by Lion Joe and donated back to the Club.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:58 pm. Followed by the singing of the Lions Roar.
