The Month of May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month since warmer weather means an increase in motorcycles hitting the open road.

Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart had this blunt advice for those operating a motorcycle, “Don’t be stupid, okay? Ride with common sense. Ride with safety in mind. I’ve seen a lot of people do some really dumb things on motorcycles because it’s fun or it’s cool. No, it’s not. Something bad is going to happen if you continue to do dumb things on motorcycles.”

He had this advice for motorists not operating a motorcycle, “I would please caution you to look for motorcycles. They are harder to see when you’re sitting at an intersection and a motorcycle is coming down the road. Just because of their size, it’s hard to gauge speed, so again I would urge you to look twice or three or four times.”
