Kenton Lions Club Reviews Officer Nominations, Lion’s Roar Plans, and Community Support

The Kenton Lions Club met recently and 1st Vice President Lion Tracy led the pledge and the prayer.  The meeting was adjourned for a meal and called back to order at 6:58 pm.

Communications: Lion Bill Keller read a letter from the Kenton Band Boosters about supporting the KHS Band Boosters. 

Treasurer and Secretary Reports: Lion Joe Burbacher moved to accept both reports.  After a 2nd by Lion Jack Elsasser, members voted.  Motion Passed.

Committee Reports

Pioneer Park – Lion Joe Burbacher shared with members he is working with city council and AEP to get a brighter light installed on the pole near the playground. 

Mint Report: Lion Jack reported that he collected $4.25 and replaced 17 rolls at various businesses and shared he is looking at relocating one of the displays to another business. District Convention – Zone Chair Lion Bill Keller will have more details to share for the April Convention at the next meeting.

Lion Todd Oates made a motion to close the nominations.  After a 2nd by Lion Jason Van Buskirk, members voted.  Motion Passed.  Lion Rick Collins then read the officer list (1st Reading) to the club.

Lion’s Roar – Lion Todd Oates led discussion on single ticket prices and reminded members that Patron Tickets are available and to be sold at $15 each and allows entry for two and name in the program.  He asked members to make sure they get the correct spelling for Patron names.  Lion Todd also said Business Ads for the program will be in color and cost $50 which includes one patron ticket.   Tickets at the door will be sold at $8 per person, an increase from $6.  The rehearsals will be the 1st and 2nd weeks of March and the March 4th meeting will be a business and rehearsal meeting.  Lion Todd and other members shared more skit ideas and asked members for their involvement in various capacities and the theme is “Moving On UP!”

New Business:

Lion Jason Van Buskirk moved to renew the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance Membership of $150.  After a 2nd by Lion John Siemon, members voted.  Motion passed.  Lion Bill Keller moved to donate $250 to the Kenton Band Boosters Annual Sponsorship Drive.  After a 2nd by Lion Micheal Hunt, members voted.  Motion passed.

Lion John Dulin shared with members that he recently collected 140 eye glasses from eight locations and 883 were collected in 2025.  Lion Jason Van Buskirk told members that volunteers at a church in Pandora process all the glasses that can be re-used and that they are very efficient. 

The 50/50 was won by Lion Ed Knox and donated back to the club. The Meeting Adjourned at 7:52 PM, Followed by the Lions Roar.
