Non-Profits Encouraged to Apply for General Traffic Safety Grants

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) is seeking grant proposals from non-profit organizations and government agencies to reduce traffic fatalities in their communities.

The grants awarded under the general traffic safety grant program must be used to address one or more of the following traffic safety issues:

• Alcohol/drug-impaired driving
• Occupant protection
• Speed management
• Non-motorized road users (pedestrians, bicycles, etc.)
• Other fatal or serious injury traffic-related issues based on problem identification

Some examples of potential allowable costs are: personnel/coordination expenses, contractual services, equipment, supplies and materials, and public information and education (PI&E).

General traffic safety grant proposals must demonstrate cost effectiveness, measurable results, and the potential to positively impact the traffic-related goals both at the state and local levels. The funding is provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which means grant activity must occur during FFY2025 – October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
