69 of Kenton passed away peacefully at his home at 7:42am Tuesday June 28, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.

Steve was born December 26, 1952 in Kenton the youngest son of Howard and Mary Ann (Hoover) Hamm.

Steve was a 1971 graduate of Kenton Senior High School. He was employed as a welder at Kenton Structural and Ornamental Iron Works in Kenton before working at Rockwell later Sypris Technologies in Kenton.

On August 20, 1983 Steve married I. Jolene (Slade) Hamm and she survives in Kenton. He is also survived by his children Brandon Hamm of Kenton and Breanna (John Gallias) Hamm of Ann Arbor Michigan, a brother Terry (Charlotte) Hamm and their children Chris and Ryan Hamm all of Kenton, as well as three aunts, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved cats, Stormy, Wrigley, and especially Decker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and two brothers-in-law, and mother-in-law.

Steve was an avid football fan especially of the Kenton Wildcats, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and The Cleveland Browns. He was a long time member of Kenton Moose Lodge 428 and a Lifetime Golden Age Eagle member of Kenton FOE Aerie 2163.

Steve battled the effects of type one diabetes most of his life and always hoped to, in some small way, help to find better treatments or a cure for this devastating disease, so he decided to donate his body to The Ohio State University Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology, and Anatomy for research. OSU along with his wife and children agreed to honor his wish; therefore, no services will be held at this time but a celebration of his life will be held at the Kenton Eagles in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, we ask donations to be made to Not By Choice Outreach of Kenton or charity of choice.
