Thomas Lawrence Taylor 68 of Kenton, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25, 2022 surrounded by family. Tom was born July 22, 1953 to the late Rev. Lester and Lois (Leonard) Taylor in Washington Courthouse, Ohio. The family moved frequently with Tom graduating from Waverly High School in 1971. Tom married the love of his life Cathleen (Maxwell) on December 10, 1972 in Waverly, Ohio.
Tom is survived by his wife Cathy and 3 daughters; Jennifer (Brian) Hattery of Kenton, Stacy Taylor of Kenton, Cassandra (Jessica) Deskins-Taylor of Pickerington, Ohio. He is also survived by 4 granddaughters; Olivia, Grace, Chloe, and Aubrey Hattery all of Kenton. Also surviving are a brother; Edward (Marilyn) Taylor of Sciotoville, Ohio, a sister; Linda (Kevin) Hege of Fort Wayne, Indiana and a brother-in-law Tom Hoy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean (Tom) Hoy.
Tom and Cathy owned and operated Coffee Coral and then founded BR Brunson’s Restaurant in Kenton where he was well known for his friendly face and award-winning pies. He worked many jobs throughout the years, but one of his favorite jobs was as a bus driver and then aide for the Kenton City Schools. For over 20 years, he shuttled generations of children to school as well as drove and supported many Wildcat sports, music, and ROTC events.
Tom was a strong believer in being involved in his community, serving several terms on Kenton City Council and functioning in many groups and boards. He was an active member of Kenton’s First United Methodist Church serving in Kid’s Club, church choir, and on the praise team. He loved golfing at Kenton’s Memorial Park golf course and could be found there near daily when the course was open. Tom saw the potential in everyone and mentored many kids and young men through his church and at the restaurants he worked at.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Kenton, Ohio on July 10th at 4:00PM. Friends may call prior to the service from 3:00PM to 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kenton First United Methodist Church Kids Club or Music Ministries.
