
Clarice “Alvetta” (Kight) Hannibal, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Vancrest on February 21, 2026, at the age of 95. What a glorious reunion it must have been for her to be greeted by so many of her loved ones at Heaven’s gate. She was born February 18, 1931, in Ross county, to the late Allen and Marjorie (Abrams) Kight. Alvetta married Charles J. Hannibal on June 14, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Cheryl Elwood and Deanna Swihart, son-in-law Stanton “Buzz” Swihart, a granddaughter Jennifer (Swihart) Predmore, brothers Glendon and Virgil Kight, and sisters Vesta “Marie” Townsend, Bonnie Creamer, and Stella “Geraldine” Slane.
She is survived by a sister Jackie Wyatt of Marion, her grandchildren Doug (Dana) Rickenbacher of Jenera, Robin (Rickenbacher) McKinniss of Kenton, Stanton Swihart of Upper Sandusky, as well as 7 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Alvetta loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed reading her bible, writing letters to loved ones and was happiest sitting around her kitchen table with friends and family drinking a hot cup of tea and eating a sweet treat. She loved babies and children of all ages as she babysat into her 70’s. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM Thurs. Feb. 26, 2026 in Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stauffer officiating. Interment will follow in Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitation will be held that same morning from 9:30AM until the time of the service.
