Brian Neil Welly, 69, of rural Jenera, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, on July 12, 1953, the son of the late Charles F. and Lucia M. (Grieser) Welly.

He was first married to Deborah Courtright and was a father to Stephen (Ann) Welly, of Lima and Sarah (Todd) Lucius, of Van Buren.  He then married Janet Cole and was a father to Dan (Kelly) Settlage of Jenera, Kim (Kess) Reichley of Findlay, Austin Welly and Jenna Welly, and a life partner to Tina Allemang.  Survivors also include his sister, Beth (Rick) Bracy, of Lima; Beatrice (Earl J.) Streacker, of Findlay; and Bernice K. Welly, of Findlay.  His grandchildren include Taylor Gonyer, Trevor Lucius, Brycen Lucius, Cami Settlage, Norah Welly, Addison Lucius, Allie Settlage, Owen Reichley, Greyson Welly, Hazel Reichley, and Anderson Welly.


Brian loved to farm with his business partner and friend, Jon Musgrave.  He enjoyed going to concerts and riding his Harley-Davidson.  He was a 1971 graduate of Arlington High School. He graduated from O.S.U. ATI in Wooster in 1974, where he received his Agri Business Degree. He was lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera.  Brian was a retiree of the Cooper Tire and Rubber Company and was a Pioneer Seed Salesman for 40 plus years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera from 2:00-8:00 PM and 10:00 -11:00 AM, prior to the services on Thursday.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Thomas Frey officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Jenera. Crates Funeral Home, Arlington has been entrusted with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Arlington FFA.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.coldrencrates.com.
