Obituary for Carol May (Payne) Nicol

Carol May (Payne) Nicol, 62, of Lakeview, OH, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 19, 2022, at Liberty Retirement Community of Lima after a prolonged illness.

Carol was born on October 9, 1959, in Bellefontaine, OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorcus Johnson Payne.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Ciera Nicol of Lakeview, longtime companion, Bob Leiter of Russells Point, OH and his son, Cory Leiter of Kenton, OH, two grandsons, Caiden Nicol and Cannon Nicol, six siblings, Sheryl Payne of Alger, OH, Charles David (Katherine) Payne of Lima, Tom (Connie) Payne of West Mansfield, OH, Randy Payne of Kenton, Doug (Kileen) Payne of West Mansfield, and Ray (Chris) Payne of Ridgeway, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

Carol was a 1978 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School. She retired from Honda Transmission Manufacturing after 33 dedicated years. Carol was an excellent cook and baker. She also had a green thumb and could grow just about anything in her gardens. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, watching her grandson, Caiden’s basketball games and staying at Norris Lake, Tennessee.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 27, 2022, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview with visitation from 12-2 pm.
