Obituary for Cynthia “Cindy” D. (Skidmore) Shepherd

A funeral service for Cynthia “Cindy” D. (Skidmore) Shepherd will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the McDonald Township Hall. Burial will follow at Fairview McDonald Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. 

Cindy passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 after a long, courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Cindy was born March 22, 1962 in Belle Center, Ohio to the late Wayne and Charlene (Dreitzler) Skidmore. She married Lance Shepherd from Kenton on August 27, 1988. The marriage produced 2 sons; Jordan A. Shepherd and Weston J. Shepherd both of Belle Center.

Also surviving are 2 brothers; Greg (Diana) Skidmore, Kevin (Gloria) Skidmore, numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifelong friend, Lori Dyer, who was always there for her.

Cindy was a 1980 USV High School graduate. She was the McDonald Township fiscal officer for over 27 years. She was proud of all the folks that she served and served with during the time of her service.

Cindy always had a beautiful, infectious smile and a great personality. She always said if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all. She grew up on a cattle farm north of Belle Center and never lost her love for production of good Angus cattle as she had her own small herd. Her favorite time of year was in the spring when her cows had their calves, and seeing that new life. She will be missed by many that she touched and will be looking down over all of us.

Memorial donations in Cindy’s honor may be made to Not By Choice Outreach or the Hardin County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship Fund.
