Funeral services for Cyril Arhl Oates Jr will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory with Pastor Carl Redding officiating. Burial will follow at Byhalia Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the funeral home.

Junior passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Prestige Gardens in Marysville. He was born on September 27, 1939 in Kenton to the late Arhl Sr and Gail (Robinson) Oates. He married Janice Rockhold and they later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Betty (Griffin) Snider on August 16, 1991 at the Bethel Church in West Mansfield and she survives.

Also surviving are 2 daughters; Maria (John) Amy of Patterson, N.Y., Eileen (Robert) Cook of West Mansfield, 3 step-sons; Dan (Sherry) Snider of Kenton, Doug (Linda) Snider of Zansefield, Chris Snider of West Mansfield, 4 grandchildren; Elizabeth (Ramon) James, Marlyna (Bastein) Gilibert, Tesley (Tyler) Johnson, Danielle Snider, 5 great-grandchildren; Martin James, Andrew Gilibert, William Gilibert, Tatum Snider, and Leo Johnson.

He was preceded in death by a brother; John Oates.

Junior attended Ridgemont High School. 

He was a lifelong farmer. He retired from farming when he turned 65 and enjoyed playing cards with family on the weekends. He purchased a motorhome and traveled all over the United States for 12 years with his wife, Betty. They also enjoyed many years in their home in Florida.
