Obituary for Darius Prater

Funeral services for Darius Prater will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Reverend Thomas Mullholland officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to the services.

Darius died on February 3, 2022 at the St. Ritas Hospital in Lima. He was born on February 14, 1959 in Kenton to the late Richard and Edith (Combs) Prater. 

Surviving are 1 daughter; Cassie (Keith) Zimmerman of Dunkirk, 1 son; Jeremy Prater of Kenton, 1 sister; Staria Hattery of Kenton, 1 brother; Markus (Jackie) Prater of Foraker, 1 grandchild; Holden Zimmerman, numerous nieces and nephews and significant other; Enriquita Pedrosa.

He was preceded in death by 1 sister; Marcia Kerr, 1 grandson; Karsen Zimmerman and an infant brother; Allerick Prater.

Darius loved playing basketball in his younger years and won an award for cross county at USV High School. He had worked in maintenance at International paper for over 30 years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida where his passion was to help improve the Blu By U Blueberry Farm.

Darius was a past president of the Kenton Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and working with his hands.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
