Darl F. Gerber, age 82, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 29, 1941, in Upper Sandusky to Karl and Regina (Koehler) Gerber. He married Lynn (Hunter) Gerber on October 7, 1961.

Along with his wife Lynn, surviving is a daughter Laura Gerber, Columbus, OH; sons Adam
(Ardelle) Gerber, Lake Forest, IL; Gregg (Charlotte) Gerber, Cameron, NY; and Eric Gerber, Upper Sandusky; five grandchildren: Emily (ShaJuan) Gerber Grace, Jessica Gerber, Niklaus Gerber, Yvette Gerber, and Eamon Gerber; sisters Barbara (Lynn) Gottfried and Elizabeth (Richard) Carroll; and sisters-in-law Jane Hunter and Ann Senff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis Gerber.

Darl graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1959. He attended Capital University and received a Bachelor of Science degree. For most of his career, Darl served as Senior Quality Control Engineer at
the Autolite Spark Plug Facility in Fostoria. Darl had a very inventive and creative mind and loved to design and develop new things, as well as create new ways of doing old things. After retirement he devoted months to refurbishing the Star Theater, as well as working on projects at the Elks BPOE #83. He also enjoyed working on his lawn and doing home remodeling. Darl always had a project.

He was a Board Member at the Star Theater and was a lifetime member of the Elks. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, choir member, and youth Sunday school teacher for many years. He created lights for the church windows for the Christmas Eve midnight service, always enlisting at least one son to help no matter the weather conditions. Darl loved attending his children’s activities and sports, and he was an avid fan of sports in general. He loved to golf, especially the
trips “down south” with “the guys.”
