Obituary for Darrell Emerson Nichols, Sr.

Funeral services for Darrell Emerson Nichols Sr will be private. Burial will take place at Norman Cemetery. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darrell died on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital E.R. in Kenton. He was born on June 18, 1947 in Kenton to the late Harold Emerson and Jean (Gibson) Nichols. On June 18, 1977 he married Marie Scott and she survives in Kenton. Also surviving are 2 daughters; Erica (Dan) Galkiewicz of Oklahoma, Heidi Soledad of Kenton, 2 sons; Darrell Emerson (Michelle) Nichols Jr of Indiana, Jonathan Patrick Nichols of Lima, 10 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister; Marsha Nichols, a brother; Douglas Nichols, and a granddaughter; Shelby Dane Prater.

Darrell was a 1965 Kenton High School graduate. He then graduated from Rhodes College with an Associates Degree in Industrial Engineering and then attended Capital University. Darrell worked as a welder for Rokwell for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God. Darrell was an avid football fan with his favorite teams being the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed going fishing and playing softball in his younger years.
