Darrell Gene Sullivan, 78, of West Mansfield passed away peacefully in the care of his family and Hospice at the home of his son, Randy on July 13, 2021 following a five year battle with diabetes and
kidney disease.
He was born July 7, 1943 to the late Marguerite (Bowman) and Elmer Sullivan of Mt. Victory.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Joyce (Gillen) Sullivan, children Randy (Barbara) Sullivan, West Mansfield, Thomas Sullivan, West Mansfield and Wendy Sullivan, Urbana, Ohio. Granddaughters Lindsey

His brother Jerry (Marsha) Sullivan, Richwood and sister, Karen (Danny) Hamilton, West Mansfield, both preceded him in death. He was loved by many nieces and nephews who will miss him.
Darrell attended the Grace Chapel Church, Richwood, growing up, then he and Joyce in their later years attended the First United Methodist Church in Kenton.
Darrell was a 1962 graduate of Byhalia-York High School where he was active in FFA. He served in the Army Reserves in Kenton, Ohio in the 525-AR COM Engineering Division of Heavy Transportation.
Darrell was a hard worker, working two jobs, on the farm and in the factory. His true love was farming and Darrell was the 3rd generation farmer of the Sullivan family in Washington Township. He enjoyed riding in his tractor and combining during harvest season. He was interested in any kind of farm machinery and enjoyed raising livestock. He loved his special companion Muggsy and enjoyed the cats
and dogs they had throughout the years.
In his spare time he enjoyed going to his children’s 4-H and FFA events and watching them grow up in his foot-steps. He enjoyed going to watch his granddaughters play sports and participate in the school
musicals.
Something you might not know about Darrell is that in his younger days, he really enjoyed airplanes and would have loved to get his private pilot’s license. He also wanted to go out West and run a cattle ranch. Darrell had a love for his automobiles that he owned and would constantly wash and wax them taking pride in how nice they always looked.
Darrell was a pretty quiet man, one of few words, who loved to just sit and just listen to others talk. He liked to be ornery occasionally and would enjoy a good cigar now and then. He seemed to have a sweet tooth and would have to satisfy that by eating candy, Hershey Milk Chocolate bar was his favorite!
