Don was born in Bellefontaine on March 29, 1956 to the late Albert and Persie (Summer) Bolling.

He married Valerie Vaughn and she preceded him in death in 2008. Surviving are his children: Michael (Cathi) Bolling, Michelle (Randy) Williams, and Cassandra (William) Legge, all of Kenton. Don is also survived by three grandchildren: Sydney Bolling, Caden Bolling, and Hanna (Michael) Legge-Hites; and sisters Sue Ball and Ann Martin, both of Bellefontaine.
