Donna Mae Metzger, 97 passed away at VanCrest of Ada on Thursday, February 1, 2024. She was born in Kearney, Nebraska on March 7, 1926 to the late Edward and Agnes (McKenna) Hunter. She was raised in Fairfax, Missouri where she met and married Robert VanLeuven. In 1957, she married Charles Rayburn Croy and they moved their family to Hardin County to work on his family’s farm in 1962. She was also widowed by both Ira Butcher and Roger Metzger. She is survived by four children, Pam (Mac) Rightsell of Tariko, Missouri; Cindy (Steve) Wykes of Dunkirk, Ohio; Dan (Valerie) Croy of St. Joseph, Missouri; Chuck (Jill) Croy of Fort Wayne, Indiana and daugter-in-law, Heidi Croy of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, a son, Jim Croy is deceased and two grandchildren, Lisa Simons and Adam Meyer are also deceased. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Todd Wykes, Chad (Amelia) Wykes, Rick (Stacie) Meyer, Dan (Melissa) Croy, Heidi (Mike) Sigars, Amy Flowers, Hillary (Robert) Andrade, Aaron (Kristen) Conkle, Caris Croy, Julia (Sam) Rychener, Mitchell Croy, Tabitha Meyer (granddaughter-in-law) along with 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Donna worked on the family farm, was a devoted homemaker and also had worked for North Electric, Kmart and McDonalds (both in Kenton). She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (Blocktown) and enjoyed wintering in Arizona, playing cards, dancing, gardening, raising chickens and spending time with her friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm on Monday, February 5, 2024 at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 200 East Columbus St., Kenton where the funeral service will begin at 12pm.
