Funeral services for Duane Shaffer will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Bill Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview McDonald Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Masks will be required and Covid-19 protocols should be followed.
Duane died on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on November 22, 1949 in Hardin County to the late Frank and Catherine (Wilson) Shaffer. On March 29, 1970 he married Kea Ries and she survives.
Also surviving are 6 children; Sharrah (Scot) Graham of North Lewisburg, Shaunnah Shaffer of Kenton, Shadd (Amy) Shaffer of Belle Center, Chelsea (Tyler) Furer of Kenton, Carley Shaffer of Marysville, Skye Shaffer of Belle Center, 2 sisters; Mary Ann (Bill) Prater of Bellefontaine, Barbara (Llyod) Davis of Chattanooga, TN, 6 grandchildren;  Kahlin Furer, Vaan Furer, Juniper Furer, Josh Graham, Jacob Graham, Joe Graham, a great-grandson; Matthew Graham, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Martha Nickell, Anna Belle Horne and a great grandson; Henry Graham.
Duane was a 1967 USV High School graduate.
He served as a McDonald Township Trustee for 25 years and was the County Executive Committeeman for the Ohio Township Convention. Duane also served on the USV Ambulance Board where he helped set up the 911 system.
Duane farmed his entire life and was truly passionate about it. He loved to work on the farm and everything that came with it.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Church in Kenton.
