Obituary for Grace Lynette Messmer

Grace Lynette Messmer age 87 of Wharton, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday October, 20, 2022 at Fox Run Manor. She was born on August 10, 1935 in Wharton, OH to Wayne I. and R. Opal (Price) Cole. Grace married Earl Junior Messmer on August 18,1951 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2013.

Surviving is a son: Jack (Pam) Messmer of Forest, daughters: Jenny (Leroy) Clark of Carey, Judy (Grant) Yeater of Carey, Jody (Jim) Bowman of Edison, thirteen grandchildren: Keith (Christa) Messmer, Kevin (Valerie) Messmer & Kasey Messmer, Alissa (Brett) Farmer, Andrea (Adam) Shoop, Kyle (Krista) Clark, Brandi (Nick) Miller, Brooke (John) Greathouse, Amy (Todd) Puckett, Kara (Chad) Mowery, Andrew (Shelby) Yeater, Conrad (Melissa) Bowman and Tiffany (Brandon) Wilson, twenty six great grandchildren: Justine, Collin, Kaitlyn Messmer, Taylor, Brenna, Addie Farmer, Evan, Cade McDaniel, Henley, Aria Shoop, Tyler, Hayden, Logan, Karsyn, Kyzer, Kolt, Karter Clark, Trey, Aliyah Greathouse, Bryce, Kalen Puckett, Koen, Cwyn Mowery, Peyton, Kendall Austin Bowman, a sister Connie (Greg) Swartz of Tiffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jim Messmer and grandchild Cory Kiehne.

Grace worked at Chief Dairy in Upper Sandusky. She was a cook and custodian for
Riverdale Schools for 20 years. Grace was active life member of Wharton United Methodist Church and belonged to the church ladies group. She was a Brownie Leader, Club Scout Den Mother and 4-H Advisor. Grace enjoyed camping, reading and watching TV. She and her husband were avid fans of Riverdale Falcons and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Visitation for Grace will be held Sunday October 23, 2022 from noon-2pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Monday October 24, 2022 at 10am in the funeral home with Pastor Betsy Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Wharton Richland Union Cemetery, Wharton. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverdale Athletic Dept, Wharton United Methodist Church or charity of the donor’s choice in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E.
