of Alger

Funeral services for J.B. Helton will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Jim Gatchell officiating. Burial will follow at Otterbein Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home.

J.B. passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1943 in Falcon, Kentucky to the late Charles and Ivory (Gibson) Helton. He married Mary Legge and they later divorced, he then married Patricia Manns and they also divorced.

Surviving are 3 daughters; Angela Parthemore of Rushsylvania, Jacqueline (Timothy) Miller of Alger, Ivory Curl of Forest, a son; Brice J. Helton of Marion, 4 sisters; JoAnn (Richard) Rhodes of Alger, Joy Martin of Ada, Judy Weller of Ada, Janet (Gary) Sexton of Rushsylvania, 3 brothers; Frank Helton of Pennsylvania, Chalres Helton of Cleveland, Doyle (Kathy) Helton of Alger, grandchildren; Julia, Jessica, Tony, Mary, Isaiah, Briley, Layla, Olivia, Adly, great-grandchildren; Kaeylyn, Jawston, Arabella, Waylon, Arron, Presley, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog; Baby Girl.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Burl Helton Sr, George Helton, Melvin Helton, Don Helton and a sister; Velcie Daniels.

J.B was a retired factory worker.

J.B. had three major passions in his life, Family, God and Music. He was a member of the Quickstep Church in Alger where he attended as a faithful servant of God. J.B. was extremely talented when it came to music, especially the guitar. He played in a band called the Country Kings as well as many other bands. He could sing, play and even wrote many of his own songs. If he wasn’t playing music he enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with his family.

He was also known to be extraordinarily optimistic and for his funny sayings such as “I bet a dollar against a doughnut” and ” I could make a livin on a flat rock”.
