Jackie D. “Jack” Benton, age 70, of Dunkirk, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital, Dublin.
He was born on April 15, 1952, to Marie O. (Irwin) (Nichols) Wright. Jack was raised by his mother, Marie and father, Willie Nichols, they preceded him in death. Jack was previously married to Kathy Benton and Tammy Frey.
Jack is survived by his three children: Jason (Tonya) Benton of Bellefontaine, Stephanie (Matt) McCoy of Dunkirk, and Josh Benton of Findlay; two stepchildren: Connor English of New York, and Christine Santos of Connecticut; sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild; and four brothers: Paul (Lynn) Nichols of Ada, Mark (Deb) Nichols of Findlay, Greg Nichols of Carrollton, GA, and Steve (Gina) Nichols of Springfield, VA.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Jack previously worked as a roofing contractor. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Jack attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, Kenton. He loved sports especially baseball and basketball, but coaching was a very important part of his life. There was nothing Jack wouldn’t do for the kids coached. Most of all Jack loved his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
