Services for Janet E. Sponsler will be private. Burial at Fairview Belle Center Cemetery will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janet died on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Arlington. She was born on December 24, 1930 in rural Dunkirk to the late Vern and Alberta (Chamberlin) Woodruff. On May 18, 1957 she married Joe Sponsler, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2006.

Surviving are daughters Sheri and Vickie Sponsler of Kenton, son William Sponsler of Kenton, sisters Mildred Owings of Dola and Velma Lamb of Lima, brother Vern (Joan) Woodruff of Dunkirk, grandchildren Jake Sponsler of Bowling Green and William Sponsler, Jr., of Perrysburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Edna Hiller, Pauline Willeke, Raymond Woodruff, John Woodruff, Harold Woodruff, Paul Woodruff, Robert Woodruff, Dorothy Woodruff, Helen Cozad, and Lois Fry.

Janet was a 1949 graduate of Dunkirk High School. She worked at L&K Restaurant, Essex Wire, United Aircraft, Imperial Bondware, and retired from Whirlpool of Findlay in 2001. Janet also always helped on her family farm by helping milk the cows.

She is a former member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Dunkirk. Janet participated as a PTA mother and a Girl Scout Leader. Janet enjoyed doing word searches and cheering on The OSU Buckeyes and Kenton Wildcats football teams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice or the Kenton YMCA. Online condolences may be expressed at pricefh.net.
