of Dunkirk

A funeral service for Janice Kay (Scott) Evans will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Joseph Oman Jr. officiating. There will be a private burial service at The Woodson Cemetery in Wellston, Ohio. Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Janice Kay (Scott) Evans was born on June 12, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Orville Ernest Scott and Beulah Norma (McDaniel) Scott. She was the oldest of four children born to this union. Janice Kay was raised on the family farm near Wellston, Ohio and was a 1963 graduate of Wellston High School. On June 9, 1964 she married Thomas M. Evans in Hamden, Ohio. Tom and Janice Kay settled in Dunkirk, Ohio.

Janice Kay served as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Blanchard, Dunkirk EMS for over 20 Years. She retired from the Hardin Northern School District where she was a school cook. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Dunkirk, Ohio and was a member of the Grace Ladies Fellowship and served as the kindergarten Sunday School teacher for many years. She also was a member of the Dunkirk CIC.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas M. Evans of Dunkirk, her son, E. Howard Evans (Dale Zink) of Sonoma, California, daughter-in-law, Shannon Stewart-Evans of Dunkirk, Ohio, her brother, Ernest Wayne (Anita) Scott of Orient, Ohio, sister, Lee Keels of Oak Hill, Ohio and sister-in-law, Ann Allen of Columbus, Ohio. Janice Kay is also survived by her grandchildren, Alec Stewart-Evan of Rincon, Georgia and granddaughters, Quinn Stewart-Evans of Athens, Ohio and Allysa Faith Evans-Zink of Sonoma, California, great grandsons,  Roman and Sylas Stewart-Evan of Rincon, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.

Janice Kay was preceded in death by her parents, son, James Edward Evans, sister, Saundra Sue Scott, sister-in-law, Marya Scott, Janice Lee Howard, Mary Alice Williams and brothers-in-law, George Howard, Lewis Keels, Harvey Allen and Robert Williams Jr., and grandsons, Keegan Scott and Tieran Thane Stewart-Evans.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Janice Kay Evans’ honor be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Dunkirk.
