Jerry Conuth Hipsher 87

of Kenton

Graveside Services for Jerry C. Hipsher will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Grove Cemetery with Pastor Jason Manns officiating. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to the services at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton.

Jerry C. Hipsher died Monday, June 6, 2022 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1934 in Kenton to the late Jack and Virginia Evelyn (Pugh) Hipsher. On December 29, he married Freda Jean Kemmere and she survives in Kenton.

Jerry is survived by 5 children; Audrey Lynn Hipsher, Bryan E. Hipsher, Terrissa K. Howell, Yolanda S. Bolen and Kim R. (Bo) Taylor, 3 brothers; Samuel (Nancy) Hipsher, Lanny (Eleanor) Hipsher, Jack (Karen) Hipsher, 2 sisters Phyllis (Mike) Gaver and Darlene (Donald) Brien. Jerry and Freda are blessed with 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Floyd Ellery Hipsher, brother, Larry Gene Hipsher and granddaughter,  Amber Rachelle Bolen.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and in the Ohio National Guard. In 1963, after receiving his Journeyman Welding Certification he was selected by the Marion Power Shovel Company as a lead welder on the Launch Complex 39 Crawler Transporter project at NASA John F. Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral Florida. Jerry was also employed by Durez, Rockwell International and General Dynamics Corporation.

Jerry and Freda owned and operated Jerry’s Bait and Tackle Shop throughout the 1970’s. His passions were fishing and hunting. He loved his annual trips to Florida with Freda to catch the big one: a 13lb. 9oz largemouth bass which he released for future anglers to enjoy. He spent 70 years fishing Indian Lake and enjoyed every moment. A friend recently quoted “Jerry is a legend at the Lake”!

For the love of the great outdoors and time spent with family and friends, donations may be made to Kenton High School Conservation Class, Fishing, Boating, Hunting and WIld Game Processing in care of the Price-McElroy Funeral Home.

Online condolences may be expressed at pricefh.net.
